Within two minutes you reach the highway which will allow you to explore towns like Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz, Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo. And make sure you spend a day at Playa Las Teresitas.

The town was exceeding my expectations, and it is for good reasons that belongs to UNESCO heritage. The hotel did not meet the expectations, not deserving the four starts. Indeed, it has a good base to get the four stars for the valuable heritage it has, but the services need to be improved. Did not prove value for money.

The city is close to the Airport North, Tacoronte, La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Anaga, Teide National Park are accessible as well. The Forestal Park is next to the city which contains big, ancient pine trees, I recommend it to hike. The city is also nice small but has many possibilities: markets, shops, bars, restaurants. If you like a small city which surrounded by pineforest and not so warm during the summer (800-900m above sea level) then it is your destination.

Beautiful old town with a lot of interesting architecture and many pedestrian streets. Driving in with a car was a bit of a nightmare, as there is lots of traffic and parking is difficult. Beware of any restaurants that don't have price lists. We ate at Bodegon Tocuyo, no price lists & rips off tourists.

Good location for exploring the north of Tenerife.
Good location for exploring the north of Tenerife. Close to airport and to the city but also rural. Several restaurants and a relaxed small town atmosphere. Typical Canarian town. Some small roads but all fine with a satnav. We selected this area specifically to spend a couple of days exploring the forests and Teide by car. The cafe/cake store is great (weekends) and we enjoyed a very good steak at Bodega Campestre. Great for a couple of nights. We coupled it with a night in La Leguna for an awesome bolt of culture.

Second time staying and enjoyed it just as much. Rooms are beautiful and well kept. There is a small kitchenette but for some reason is has no cutlery ?? Nor did they provide any coffee or tea etc.. Bit strange? The breakfast is high quality and plentiful. Apart from that it's a great hotel in a great location for the town and to use as a base for the area. Their private carpark is €10 per night but the open CP is €7.50 PN BUT it gets rammed so I'd advise you to book the hotel CP.

Lovely old historic town which forms a base for also...
Lovely old historic town which forms a base for also visiting Santa Cruz. Lots of bars and restaurants. The old buildings are frequently open to visitors. It is easy to walk around the old town which is set out in a grid pattern so difficult to get lost.
